The main challenge that came with this event was time constraints. Since the All-Star starters were named on January 22nd, and the reserves on the 28th, this only gave ICON approximately 2 weeks to produce graphics for the entire event. From the moment the All-Star starters were announced, hundreds of files were sent over to our creative team to begin work. Not only was it a time crunch with the NBA, but we also had to find a way to allocate time for existing clients. One particular challenge was in creating a custom print that covered a large archway the entrance to Ricoh Coliseum.
With our production facility operating around the clock and allocating specific printers to the NBA, we were able to maximize production on all fronts whether it was with the NBA or with our existing clients. The scope of the work for the All Star Game included a wide variety of prints ranging from vinyl, backlit prints, fabric, and rigids. To deal with the archway, a large fabric print was created that fit over a custom frame like a pillowcase; this allowed to an easy install with a seamless look. The NBA All-Star Game in Toronto went very smoothly and was one of the more memorable All-Star Weekends in recent memory. All of this could not have been made possible without ICON and all parties involved agree on that account fully. The clients were very impressed with the quality of work along with our responsiveness to any issues that arose.
