The Markham visual communications company will modernize its production, buy more from Canadian suppliers and hire 15 people with support from FedDev Ontario's Regional Tariff Response Initiative.
MARKHAM, ON, October 13, 2026 – MARKHAM, ON, October 13, 2026 – ICON Digital Productions Inc. will receive $1.3 million from the Government of Canada to modernize its Markham production facility, bring more of its supply chain home and hire 15 people. The funding comes through the Regional Tariff Response Initiative (RTRI), delivered by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), which is investing nearly $26 million in 31 businesses across the Greater Toronto Area.
For more than 30 years, ICON has turned ideas into things people can see and touch: the storefront graphics, event builds and digital screens that help brands get noticed. This investment positions the company to grow that work right here in Canada for years to come.
Building Through Change
Like many Canadian manufacturers, ICON has navigated a shifting trade landscape. U.S. tariffs affected demand from some American customers and raised the cost of key printing materials, adding about $1.25 million to supply costs between 2024 and 2025.
Rather than scale back, ICON chose to invest in its future.
Investing in What's Next
The RTRI funding will modernize ICON's production floor with advanced printing technology and workflow automation. That means more output, greater efficiency and room to take on new kinds of work. It also gives the team new skills on technology that will define the next decade of the industry.
Buying Canadian, Hiring Local
Alongside its new equipment, ICON will source from Canadian suppliers and service providers wherever possible, building a stronger, more resilient supply chain and keeping more of its spending in Ontario.
