ICON strikes GOLD at APEX Awards

ICON Media has won the Gold Award in the Retail Category at the 2018 APEX Awards at this year’s Digital Signage Expo in Las Vegas! The APEX Awards recognizes companies that have displayed excellence in installation of digital displays and interactive technologies. This year, finalists were chosen from a list of 116 entrants across 10 different countries for 9 major digital signage categories. ICON Media is honored to have won for the installation at the Fume Scent Lounge in the Yorkdale Shopping Centre.

The Fume Scent Lounge brings a new approach to fragrance shopping as it uses innovative technology to bridge the gap between e-commerce and traditional brick-and-mortar retailers. Working in coordination with our partners at Eventscape and dkstudio, ICON Media helped design and develop an interactive table where, through touch screens, shoppers will be able to search for fragrances based on brand preferences, their personality and style, and can even learn more about any of COTY’s scents using RFID tags on each of the fragrance inhalers. This table, paired with 10 LCD videowall towers, exposes shoppers to a wide variety of the brands and fragrances that are owned by COTY Canada including Calvin Klein, Gucci, Hugo Boss, and Tiffany & Co. ICON’s creative team had designed and scheduled the towers’ content to feature all 10 fragrances while allowing for particular content takeovers to help equally promote each brand.

This is ICON’s second consecutive win and third win overall at the APEX Awards having received an Award in the Transportation category in 2017 for The Flower at Toronto Pearson and in the Retail category in 2014 for work completed with Holt Renfrew. ICON Media strives to be at the forefront of innovation and continues to create immersive brand experiences for their clients.
