In September 2016, Toronto hosted the world’s best hockey players for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. Working with Infinite Scale, the agency on record, ICON was to outfit several of Toronto’s key landmarks, arenas, and hotels to start getting into the spirit of the World Cup. In a matter of weeks, ICON has to produce a wide variety of graphics that would be going up at Toronto’s Union Station, the Air Canada Centre, Ricoh Coliseum, Mastercard Centre, and several participating hotels. Graphics would include window and wall vinyl, floor graphics, fabric prints, Quikstands, and backlit graphics just to name a few.
Our team worked to make sure that all deadlines were met so that Toronto would look its best when the hockey world turned its focus to Toronto. Not only did were there tight time constraints in getting everything installed, but we had to make sure that all graphics were removed immediately after the finals so that all the venues would be ready for the Toronto Maple Leafs’ centennial season which began the next day following the finals. Overall, the tournament was a huge success for both ICON and the City of Toronto with all graphics looking perfect throughout the course of the event and of course, Canada coming away with the gold medal.
